about Elliot

Elliot Kloninger-Stever is a choral conductor and tenor based in Baltimore. Growing up singing in the iSing Silicon Valley choir, Elliot passionately believes that high level music-making can occur at any age. A dynamic leader and director, Elliot strives to inspire audiences through the creation of programs that are relevant to the issues of today. As a transgender singer, he is deeply passionate about the inclusion of the queer community in the arts, and believes music can be a vessel to tell unheard stories.

Elliot’s first venture into conducting was forming a ten-voice ensemble at iSing and undertaking the task of teaching Caroline Shaw’s “So Quietly.” The group created a professional recording released on Spotify with Innova Records in 2021. This experience sparked his desire to continue conducting in college, leading him to found the chamber choral ensemble Vassar First Inversion in 2023. Under his leadership, the group performed regularly on and off campus, pairing early music with works from living composers.

Studying with Beth Willer at the Peabody Institute, Elliot currently serves as assistant conductor for Peabody Camerata, the school’s premier treble vocal ensemble. He is an active performer in the Baltimore area, singing in the choir at Old St. Paul's Episcopal church and serving as a conducting fellow for the Handel Choir of Baltimore.

Elliot is currently pursuing his M.M. in Choral Conducting at the Peabody Institute, and previously earned his B.A. in Music at Vassar College. He also attended the Seraphic Fire Professional Choral Institute in 2023 and the University of Michigan Choral Conducting Symposium in 2025. He is a recipient of the Karolyn Kirksey Holler ‘54 Award for Graduate Study in Music from Vassar College.
